Considered the most “chic” bar in San Miguel, Mechicano’s is definitely the most originally decorated bar. Deep red walls decorated with vintage pinups, posters of classic Mexican movies, and humorous signs are just the beginning. There are three rooms in the first floor, which makes group parties feel private, and two large bars that make for a spectacular sight. The floor is made of checkered tile, containing a section of forged iron tables that seem to be held by monkeys, dogs, cats and other animals. The corners have tall-back couches made of patent leather that are both stylish and edgy.
Both the second floor and the stairs leading up to it have heavy religious motifs in their décor, with imagery that is both edgy, aesthetically appealing, and reminiscing of San Miguel’s religious heritage (not to mention the candles!). Half of the second floor is indoors, and half of it is outdoors, with a terrace that has a great view. There is another bar on the second floor and a “peninsula” where rock and pop bands play live music on the weekends. Mechicano’s not only offers a wide selection international food choices, but their bar has a complete repertoire of drinks, ranging from oversized Margaritas (Ladies get free Margaritas on Tuesday nights) to flaming cucarachas. Their waiters and bartenders are extremely efficient and friendly, but make sure you tip them right.
